01 · The name

What is Benethelium®?

Apparently, Benethelium® is created by our science guru, not by marketing genius. -thelium in biology means cell layers, such as epithelium, mesothelium, and endothelium, which are protective cell layers in human tissues and organs. Benethelium means something good for these protective cell layers.

Epithelium functions as a covering and lining of various body surfaces, cavities, and vessels, including digestive tract and reproductive tract. It prevents pathogens and toxins from entering the body. The skin, when damaged or compromised, gives a point of entry for pathogens and parasites.

The digestive tract, or gastrointestinal (GI) tract, is a muscular tube lined by a mucous membrane, which consists of an epithelial cell layer. This layer provides protection, secretory and absorption functions. Damages to this mucous membrane by bacterial, fungal, viral infection, or immunological responses, will lead to various GI system diseases, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease, colitis, acid reflux (GER & GERD), just name a few. See www.NIDDK.NIH.gov for details.

02 · The barrier

Compromised Epithelium in IBD

The intestinal epithelium functions as a protective physical barrier to luminal microbiota and plays a critical role in maintaining underneath mucosal immune system. This barrier is mainly composed of single layer of intestinal epithelial cells. Any reduced function and damage to the barrier integrity will increase intestinal permeability (leaky gut syndrome), allow gut microbes to access intestinal immune system and cause inflammation, further weaken intestinal barrier.

Research found that normal gut microbiome plays a critical role in maintaining healthy epithelium barrier, any altered microbiome structure and function lead to disease onset and progression.

Natural anti-inflammatory compounds and prebiotics promoting well balanced gut microbiome are two groups of ingredients in formulating a dietary supplement to curb and reverse the development of IBD.

03 · For IBD

Benethelium® Works for IBD

Benethelium® IBD dietary supplement contains a proprietary formulation of prebiotic biopolymers, Benethelium® blend (inulin, fructooligosaccharides (FOS), beta-glucan, arabinogalactans). These fiber molecules, through fermentation in gut, produce byproducts such as short chain fatty acids. They are shown for providing energy for mucosa cells, reducing inflammation in IBD, improving gut mucosal barrier.

Glutamine
Glutamine has been implicated in the maintenance of gut barrier function, epithelial tight junction integrity, and protection of the intestinal mucosa cells.
Phosphatidylcholine (PC)
It has been recognized that PC reconstitution in the colon mucosa could help restore mucosa structure and density, thereby improve the barrier function and prevent inflammation. Supplementation of PC could promote PC restoration in colon mucosa therefore help remission in IBD patients.
Curcumin
Curcumin is antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial. These properties lead to the strengthening of intestinal barrier by reducing bacterial crossing from the GI tract to extra-intestinal sites and inflammation. Bioperine® used in conjunction helps curcumin absorption.

04 · For hemorrhoids

Benethelium® H Works for Hemorrhoid

Perianal disease is a complication of IBD, or a manifestation of IBD in the very end of GI system. It includes fistulas, abscesses, hemorrhoids, skin tags, and fissures. So the reversal of colon and rectal inflammation could stop the progression and lessening of hemorrhoids and other perianal problems.

Benethelium® H dietary supplement is loaded with anti-inflammatory natural products including epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) from green tea extract, glutathione reduced, and curcumin from turmeric. The proprietary blend of dietary fibers including inulin, fructooligosaccharides, arabinogalactans, and beta-glucan serves as prebiotics to boost the growth of bacteria which reduces inflammation, and improves colorectal mucosa barrier.
